READING NUMBER 2 - A CONVERSATION

READING NUMBER 3 - EASTER IN AUSTRALIA

We have just celebrated Easter.

Read the story about Easter in Australia and do the exercises in boxes A to D.

The questions in B might be a bit difficult. A synonym is a word that has the same meaning as another word. For example, in question no 1 you need to find a synonym for concealed – this is the word hidden in Section 2. For question 2, famous is the same as well-known in Section 5. Now try the rest of Box B.

Many people love their pets and pets are very important at the moment when people have to stay at home most of the time. This story from Japan is about a dog that loved its owner very much.

Read the story – notice that it is mostly written in the Past Tense because these events happened a long time ago.

Answer the questions 1 to 4, then think about question 5 and the meanings of the two words.
