We have just celebrated Easter.

Read the story about Easter in Australia and do the exercises in boxes A to D.

The questions in B might be a bit difficult. A synonym is a word that has the same meaning as another word. For example, in question no 1 you need to find a synonym for concealed – this is the word hidden in Section 2. For question 2, famous is the same as well-known in Section 5. Now try the rest of Box B.

This reading about the environment is quite a difficult one.

Read the article carefully and answer sections A to C. Then think about the last question.

Section A practises the use of pronouns – words that take the place of a noun. For example, the first pronoun them refers to glass bottles in the earlier part of the same sentence. Being able to use pronouns correctly is very important if you want to speak and write good English and these words are used a lot.
