Fraser Coast Youth Achievement Awards

The Fraser Coast Youth Achievement Awards aim to recognise the young achievers of our region who otherwise go unrecognised. In 2014, we started to host the first Fraser Coast Youth Achievement Awards.  The main objective of this wonderful event is to create a positive perception of youth in Maryborough, Hervey Bay and its surrounding districts.

We are seeking to recognise young people who have set goals and achieved those self-defined goals through determination and will power. Nominate a young person in our region who is deserving to be recognised by our community.

For more information about the Fraser Coast Youth Achievement Awards, please contact 4121 2141 or email us at programs@maryboroughnc.org.

migrant development program (M.d.p.)

Delivery of multicultural programs and services is one of the many strengths of the Maryborough Neighbourhood Centre.  As a not for profit community organisation that provides mainstream services to the community, the centre has achieved significantly in its implementation of programs that benefitted members of the migrant community and has extensively promoted diversity for many years.

The Migrant Development Program has been established and recently launched to celebrate all the diverse cultures that make up our community, to learn, share and come together in unity.  More specifically, through this program the organisation hopes to empower migrants in the region through:

  • Referral to education, training and employment opportunities.
  • Access to health and welfare services
  • Freedom from violence and harm by assisting with access to legal and other support services.
  • Advocacy on matters pertaining to migrant issues.
  • Promotion of cultural awareness and diversity.
  • Support in the provision of a social network to support migrants in isolation.
  • English language mentoring, personal development and life skills.
  • A venue for established migrants to support other migrants in need.

Please contact us for more information on how to be a member or for more details on the program.

Formerly known as the Asian Women's Development Program (AWDP), this group now operates under the banner of the Migrant Development Program and will continue with its programs and activities such as the cultural dance group, social network and support services.
